Design Lead
The job purpose is to:
Support the successful delivery of strategic digital, data and technology projects by owning and leading the business design process. Working closely with the DDaT Project Manager, project sponsors, business owners, subject matter experts and external suppliers, the postholder will ensure that projects are based on a clear understanding of business needs, current and future business processes, user requirements, organisational constraints and intended outcomes.
Lead the definition of how the business needs to work, including business processes, roles and responsibilities, user journeys, requirements, operational impacts, decision points, controls and business readiness considerations.
Plan and lead stakeholder engagement, facilitate workshops, document current-state and future-state processes, identify gaps and improvement opportunities, and produce high-quality business design documentation to support project delivery, supplier configuration, change management, testing and transition into business-as-usual.
The post holder must possess:
Strong experience in business analysis, business process design, service design, operating model design or a closely related role.
Experience gathering, analysing, documenting and validating business requirements.
Experience planning and facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders, subject matter experts and end users.
Experience mapping current-state and future-state business processes.
Experience producing high-quality business design documentation, such as business requirements documents, process maps, user journeys, or operating model documents.
Experience working on systems implementation, digital transformation, or data projects.
Experience working with project managers to support structured project delivery.
Experience working with suppliers, implementation partners or consultants to ensure business requirements are understood and reflected in delivery outputs.
Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholder perspectives.
Experience identifying process improvement opportunities and translating them into practical future-state designs.
Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
Excellent business analysis and process design skills.
Strong workshop planning and facilitation skills.
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
Ability to build consensus across diverse functions, geographies and seniority levels.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to translate complex business issues into clear process maps, requirements, options and recommendations.
Strong analytical skills and a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
Ability to identify gaps, risks, dependencies and unresolved decisions.
Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Strong attention to detail, particularly in requirements, process documentation and decision records.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing demands.
Confidence facilitating groups, challenging constructively and resolving ambiguity.

At Malaria Consortium, We currently operate a hybrid working policy that enables staff to work from the office one day per week (equivalent to four days per month), with the remaining working days spent working from home.
