Design / STEAM Middle School Teacher (Grades 5-8) | 2026-27 School Year

Madison Country Day School, a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, seeks a creative and passionate educator for the 2026–27 school year to serve as a Middle School Design / STEAM Teacher (MYP).

We are looking for an innovative educator who thrives in the dynamic world of middle school and displays a genuine passion for STEAM education. The ideal candidate integrates social-emotional learning (SEL) to cultivate a safe, structured, and empowering classroom where every student can excel. Collaborative, flexible, and intrinsically optimistic, you bring an inquisitive mindset that inspires both students and colleagues across our community.

The successful candidate will:

• Be familiar with or willing to learn the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, particularly the framework for Design,
• Demonstrate strong proficiency in prototyping and digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, Cricut, Tinkercad, and CAD software,
• Design and facilitate rigorous, student-centered inquiry units that challenge middle schoolers to solve authentic, real-world problems through the MYP Design Cycle,
• Cultivate intellectual curiosity and foster a growth mindset, inspiring students to embrace iteration, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.
• Support the essential relationship between social-emotional learning and culturally responsive pedagogy, creating an inclusive classroom where every adolescent feels seen, valued, and empowered.
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with students, families, and colleagues, bringing warmth, a good sense of humor, and a collaborative spirit to the team,
• Actively contribute to the broader school community by serving as a dedicated middle school advisor and leading engaging extracurricular programs or STEM/design clubs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach MYP Design courses to students in grades 5-8
• Offer an elective
• Serve as a middle school advisor

QUALIFICATIONS

• Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
• At least 2 years of teaching experience;
• Excellent oral, organizational, and written communication skills;
• Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB), PYP, MYP, and Diploma Programme is welcome, but not required.
