Job Description:
OTJ is seeking a Design Technology Assistant to join our Design Technology team. This is an early-career position ideal for someone with a background in architecture, engineering, or design technology who is interested in building their career around BIM, digital design workflows, and technology enablement.
OTJ is seeking a Design Technology Assistant to join our Design Technology team. This is an early-career position ideal for someone with a background in architecture, engineering, or design technology who is interested in building their career around BIM, digital design workflows, and technology enablement.
The Design Technology Assistant will provide day-to-day support to OTJ project teams, with a primary focus on Revit and BIM workflows. The position will assist with troubleshooting, standards, documentation, training, software testing, collaboration tools, and visualization workflows.
The ideal candidate has strong foundational Revit skills, enjoys solving technical problems, and is comfortable working directly with architects, designers, and engineers to help them use technology effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line Design Technology support to OTJ staff, with an emphasis on Revit and BIM-related workflows.
- Troubleshoot issues involving Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Enscape, Bluebeam, and other design applications.
- Assist with Revit model troubleshooting, standards, templates, content, and established OTJ BIM workflows.
- Support team members in following established Design Technology standards and procedures.
- Develop and maintain training materials, quick-reference guides, and internal documentation for Design Technology tools.
- Provide one-on-one and group support and training for Revit, BIM, collaboration, and visualization workflows.
- Identify recurring user issues and work with the Design Technology team to improve standards, documentation, and processes.
- Assist with testing new software versions, updates, plug-ins, and Design Technology workflows before broader deployment.
- Support visualization and rendering workflows using approved OTJ tools, including Enscape and Adobe Firefly where appropriate.
- Research Design Technology tools and workflow improvements as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing or recently completed an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Design
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts
- Familiarity with design technology tools and processes
- Strong knowledge of Revit
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong willingness to learn new technology
- Candidates with experience in a MEP engineering firm given preference
