SEK Catalunya International School is looking for a Design Technology and Mathematics Teacher to cover a paternity leave, with an expected start date in mid-September 2026.
The initial cover period will be approximately 6 weeks, corresponding to the compulsory period of paternity leave. In addition, a further period of cover is expected from mid-January 2027, when the employee is expected to take the remaining months of parental leave, approximately until April 2027.
Mission
To develop students’ critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills through Mathematics and Design Technology.
In Mathematics, the teacher will support students in building a strong foundation in logical reasoning, quantitative analysis and mathematical modelling, enabling them to understand and solve complex real-world problems.
In Design Technology, the teacher will encourage creativity, innovation and the practical application of knowledge through the design process, supporting students in developing solutions that respond to human needs and contemporary challenges.
The role aims to foster intellectual curiosity, resilience and a growth mindset, encouraging students to think critically, work collaboratively and apply their learning confidently and ethically in both local and global contexts.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement teaching plans for Design Technology and Mathematics, as well as other areas within the department when required.
Attend department meetings and participate in collaborative planning sessions.
Provide individualised support and constructive feedback to students, addressing different learning needs.
Mentor and guide students in Extended Essays and Internal Assessments, supporting them in setting goals, conducting research and refining their work.
Participate in the standardisation of assessment tasks.
Contribute to curriculum research, review and continuous improvement.
Keep up to date with the relevant International Baccalaureate (IB) programme guides.
Communicate with families regarding students’ academic progress and any relevant academic or personal development matters.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Design Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, Architecture, Technology Education or a related field.
Master’s Degree in Teacher Training for Secondary Education (Máster Universitario en Formación del Profesorado de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y Bachillerato) or equivalent qualification.
Previous teaching experience in Mathematics and/or Design Technology.
English and Spanish at native or native-equivalent level.
Ability to plan effective lessons and teaching sequences.
Ability to adapt teaching to students’ individual learning needs.
Ability to use different teaching methodologies and educational resources.
Ability to assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.

We Offer
Initial cover period: Approximately 6 weeks, corresponding to the compulsory period of parental leave following the birth.
Expected start date: Mid-September 2026, approximately 14 September 2026, subject to the effective date of birth and commencement of the leave.
Additional cover period: The employee being replaced is expected to take the remaining period of parental leave from approximately mid-January 2027. Therefore, a further period of cover is expected, approximately from mid-January to April 2027, subject to confirmation of the final leave dates.
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:20 p.m.; Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Salary: According to the applicable Secondary Education collective agreement, plus the corresponding Baccalaureate supplement.
