Designer 3
Summary
Designs mechanical layouts and products using CAD software like SolidWorks and AutoCAD, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to meet specifications and customer needs.
The Designer 3 will use computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to develop layouts, drawings and designs that meet engineering specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, manufacturing, and operations to develop and provide new and innovative product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
- Collaborates with internal and external manufacturing planners to promote efficient product development, mitigate non-conformances, and provide disposition as necessary.
- Participates in product qualification and testing activities.
- Capable of taking the roughest concept and working in conjunction with engineering develop a new product with minimal guidance.
- Capable of prioritizing work across peer group through influence while aligning to the priorities of multiple projects and department needs.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Preferred: Associates or bachelor’s degree. Certification in SolidWorks
- Preferred: Certificate or Administrative experience in Solidworks PDM.
- Minimum of (5) years’ work experience in an engineering environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task on multiple projects at one time.
- Must be able to recognize and be discreet with sensitive business-related materials.
- Must be able to work with people to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Must be able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.
- Must possess technical aptitude, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Must be able to be use Solidworks computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software at an expert level.
- Experience with Microsoft Office for spreadsheets, reports and other communications.
- Experience with SolidWorks for mechanical design, AutoCad.
- Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
- Ability to work independently.
- Prefer individuals with deepwater riser or subsea experience.

- This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
- Limited travel will be required to support offsite personnel and business projects.
- Occasional assignments will require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules.
- The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
