Designer -Electrical Substation

Applicant should have 4-8 years of experience on basic and detailed engineering design of Electrical works on substations projects. Has a good knowledge of Electrical systems physical design, the principles, and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating with other technical disciplines.

The role requires strong expertise in utility standards (DEWA, SEC, ADDC, TRANSCO, etc.) and hands-on experience in drafting design deliverables for EPC or consultancy projects in the Middle East.

Candidate should have exposure to IEC, US, Euro or any other foreign codes/standards and middle east local practices.

Technical design of electrical equipment/systems on 400/380/220/132kV GIS Substation projects.

  1. Drafting & Design Support

  • Preparation of detailed substation drawings for:

    • Single Line Diagrams (SLD)

    • General Arrangement (GA) drawings

    • Equipment layout drawings

    • Cable routing and trench layouts

    • Earthing & lightning protection layouts

    • Control and protection schematics

  1. Software & Tools

  • Use drafting and modeling tools such as:

    • AutoCAD (2D drafting – mandatory)

    • MicroStation (preferred for utilities like SEC/ARAMCO)

  • Maintain drawing standards, layering, and naming conventions.

  1. Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with:

    • Design engineers (Electrical / Protection / Civil)

    • Project managers

    • Site teams

    • Client representatives

  • Resolve drawing discrepancies and update revisions.

  1. Documentation & Quality Control

  • Maintain drawing registers and revision control.

  • Prepare submission packages for client approval.

  • Ensure all drawings meet QA/QC requirements.

  • Support audits and documentation reviews.

  1. Desired skills
  • Experience in Advisory roles for GIS/AIS Substations particularly for Middle East Region.

  • Knowledge of IEC codes and practices followed in middle east region.

  • Diploma / bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • Relevant work experience of minimum 4 years for Owner/detailed engineering preferably in an engineering consultancy firm of Substation projects.

  • Accountable for assigned activities in electrical engineering discipline. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering.

  • Strong attention to detail, Good communication and coordination abilities

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.

  • Work in multi discipline team and support the discipline on the project to resolve technical questions and as required to assist work.
