NewBe an early applicantThe Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.
(This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance)
You will be responsible for:
- designing and managing graphic and multimedia projects for the Curatorial and Exhibition Department with short and long-term planning and managing executions of exhibitions, display projects, and other curatorial projects;
- designing and providing solid solutions in multimedia project creation. Design to increase audience engagement and deliver quality outcomes with unique narratives that are visually pleasant and cohesive with the curatorial approach;
- providing exhibition graphic support with a strong sense of typography and layout design. Overseeing the production coordinating work generated by third-party service providers such as video production and graphic production; to deliver quality outputs on time;
- demonstrating a strong understanding of various digital solutions, from motion graphics, and video production, to immersive experiences, digital interaction, and a proven track record of delivering innovative and effective multimedia exhibition design projects;
- lining up and collaborating with media artists, institutions, and vendors to successfully execute exhibition projects;
- demonstrating the understanding of hardware installation and overseeing the design and installation process with internal and external parties;
- coordinating relationships with suppliers and contractors, overseeing the quality and accuracy of the work, monitor schedules, and meeting budgetary goals;
- ensuring that the visitor experience is at the heart of all display design incorporating efficient visitor flow, adequate health and safety and risk assessment analysis in every project; and
- performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by HKPM.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree in graphic design, multimedia design, creative media or related disciplines;
- have at least 5 years of experience in exhibition or commercial design field, experience in a visual arts and culture related institution would be an advantage;
- have proven experience in multiple phases of the design process including conceptualisation, design development and construction supervision;
- have strong knowledge of materials, project management and knowledge of graphic production;
- be able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently;
- demonstrate strong organisational and design presentation skills;
- be familiar Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign, UX/UI tools, Premiere Pro, After Effect, Microsoft Office software; and
- possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English, knowledge of spoken Cantonese and Putonghua would be an advantage.
