Summary
Hands-on desktop support engineer joining Classic Technology's internal Service Delivery team, providing Level 1 and 2 support to 250+ users across seven regions in New Zealand. About Classic Technology
Classic Technology is the team behind the technology that keeps the wider Classic Group moving. From day-to-day technical support through to infrastructure, cyber security, software development and data, our team works across the Group to deliver practical technology solutions that make life easier for our people and businesses.
We’re looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to join our Service Delivery team, supporting more than 250 technology users across seven regions nationwide.
About the role
This is a hands-on technical support and desktop engineering role where you’ll be solving problems, supporting our people and helping keep our technology environment running smoothly.
You’ll work across a broad range of systems, applications and equipment, managing support requests and delivering system improvements, while building strong relationships with users across the business.
Your day-to-day will include:
Providing Level 1 and Level 2 technical support across hardware, software, applications and networks
Managing and prioritising Service Desk requests within agreed SLA targets
Administration and support across Microsoft 365, Active Directory and other key business applications
User management, access and security
Provisioning and managing IT equipment and other ICT assets
Supporting the integrity, stability, monitoring and maintenance of our ICT environment
Identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes, then delivering those improvements alongside the Classic Technology team
Working with the wider team to identify and address cyber security risks and improvements.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who knows their stuff technically, but is just as good at working with people.
You’ll ideally have at least two years’ experience in a similar technical support role, and be confident providing hands-on support and troubleshooting across areas such as:
Windows 11 and Mac OS
Microsoft 365 Admin, Entra, Intune
Windows Server
Active Directory and Group Policy
Service Desk and remote support tools
AWS administration experience would be an advantage.
MCSA/MCITP or other relevant ICT qualification, or working towards one, would be great, and ITIL knowledge or qualifications would also be useful.
Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys solving problems and helping people. You can explain technical issues without the jargon, stay calm when there’s a lot going on, and take ownership of getting things sorted. You’ll be naturally curious, keen to keep building your technical knowledge, and comfortable looking for better ways of doing things.
Why Classic Technology?
At Classic Technology, you’ll be part of a close-knit team supporting a diverse group of businesses across New Zealand. It means plenty of variety, exposure to different technologies and environments, and the opportunity to get involved in more than just the day-to-day support work.
You’ll join a down-to-earth, supportive team where people are encouraged to share ideas, solve problems and keep finding better ways of doing things.
We also offer a range of employee benefits, including birthday leave, volunteer leave, supplier discounts and EAP support.
If you enjoy solving problems, helping people and want a role where you can keep building your technical skills and experience, we’d love to hear from you.
