Detailing Manager
The Detailing Manager will lead AGF Rebar's Calgary detailing department. This pivotal role involves proactive collaboration with Operations, Project Management, and Field Placing to ensure the successful, on-budget execution of current and future projects. Additionally, the Manager will interface with the sales department, contractors, and engineers regarding design, projects, and the evaluation of preconstruction opportunities. As a key member of the AGF Rebar Calgary leadership team, the Detailing Manager will actively contribute to the division's strategic vision and growth.
About the Role - Your main responsibilities will include:
Lead and manage the detailing team covering our projects across Alberta;
Define the department’s short- and long-term objectives and goals;
Be responsible for all technical aspects of AGF projects and work closely with the Managing Director and his teams at AGF Tecnik;
Standardize processes and training, allocate resources to improve efficiencies, and establish administrative controls;
Establish the department’s monthly and annual KPIs and procedures governing the performance of assigned activities;
Review the performance of detailing departments against allocated budgets, timelines, plans, and industry standards, and provide periodic reports to the leadership team;
Regularly collaborate with field, project management, logistics, and operations teams to improve efficiency and resolve issues;
Attend and participate in divisional leadership meetings, making recommendations on division goals, growth opportunities, and improvements to effectiveness, processes, and policies;
Assist the sales department in allocating detailing costs and setting targets for awarded projects;
Facilitate detailing start-up meetings and attend site, pre-bid, and contract negotiation meetings as needed;
Sign and seal drawings and provide calculations as required;
Recruit, manage, mentor, and professionally develop a best-in-class team;
Support and assist with other ad hoc AGF projects.
About You - The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar manager role, in the rebar industry;
College diploma or bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
Proven ability to motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth;
Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities;
Participative management style – advocate team concept;
Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities. Tactful, mature;
Ability to establish credibility and be decisive – but able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities;
Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations;
Self-starter that will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
