Developer Experience Engineer

Posted Updated
Discussion

At signageOS, we build the infrastructure behind digital signage networks around the world. We connect cloud software with 200K+ real-world devices across 60+ hardware platforms, different vendors, and operating systems. Our engineering spans cloud, edge, and devices deployed in the field.

Behind it are multiple engineering teams and dozens of developers. We’re looking for a senior engineer with a strong Developer Experience mindset to make the way they build, test, and ship software better.

This isn’t a traditional DevOps role focused on production operations. You’ll own improvements to our internal developer platform, tooling, automation, and CI/CD.

Your Mission

Your customers are our developers.

Find where engineering loses time and remove the friction - systematically. You’ll work across teams, identify root causes, set priorities, and own solutions end to end.

The goal isn’t to fix the same problem twice. It’s to build tooling and workflows that make the problem disappear.

What You’ll Work On

  • Improving GitLab CI/CD pipelines and shortening feedback loops
  • Making development environments reliable and easy to work with
  • Eliminating repetitive manual work through automation
  • Building internal tools, services, CLI utilities, dashboards, and self-service interfaces
  • Improving visibility into the systems developers depend on
  • Solving flaky builds, tests, and other recurring engineering bottlenecks
  • Managing system upgrades and security updates

Every improvement you make scales across the engineering organization.

Who We’re Looking For

You’ve already spent several years solving these kinds of problems and are comfortable owning them at a senior level.

Your background might include Platform Engineering, Developer Experience, DevOps, SRE, or Backend Engineering with strong infrastructure experience.

The title matters less than how you think and what you’ve built. We’re looking for strong technical depth, hands-on experience, systems thinking, and a tendency to solve root causes rather than patch symptoms.

This role is focused on developer productivity and internal engineering systems – not production operations or incident response.

Technology

AWS & GCP · Terraform · Kubernetes · GitLab CI/CD · Docker · Linux
+ Node.js · TypeScript · MongoDB

We actively use GitHub Copilot Workflows, Claude Code, and other AI tools in our day-to-day engineering - from automation and development to internal tooling. We expect you to use AI where it makes sense, not just because it’s there.

Why signageOS?

You’ll be improving how an engineering organization builds and ships a platform that operates across cloud infrastructure and real-world devices deployed globally.

Your impact is internal but highly leveraged: solve something once, and the whole engineering organization benefits.

You’ll have the autonomy to identify what needs to change, decide how to solve it, and help shape the technical direction of our developer platform.

Practical Details

  • Prague 6 – Evropská 11 (Blox Offices)
  • Hybrid ideally 3+2, with regular onsite collaboration
  • Reserved parking in the building garage
  • Thoughtfully designed office with focused work zones, meeting rooms, a chill-out area, fully stocked fridges, Friday team lunches, and more
  • Full-time employment or freelance
  • Start date by agreement
  • Fluent Czech or Slovak with communicative English

If you like finding engineering friction, getting to the root cause, and building a solution that lasts, we’d love to hear from you.

Send us your CV, LinkedIn, GitHub, or anything else that shows us what you’ve built, improved, automated, and are proud of.
