Developer Relations Engineer

vlt is on a mission to transform the JavaScript ecosystem. We’re building the next-generation package manager and registry to simplify how developers build & maintain their JavaScript dependencies. The opportunity

As a Developer Relations Engineer, you will serve as the bridge between vlt and the global JavaScript community. This role combines technical expertise, community engagement, and developer-focused marketing. You will champion the end-to-end developer experience, drive adoption, and contribute directly to vlt’s open-source projects while shaping the product through community insights.

  • Location: Toronto, ON (on-site at HQ)

  • Job Type: Full-time

  • Work Hours: Flexible working hours with unlimited PTO

  • Reports to: CEO, with weekly 1:1s and team syncs

The responsibilities

  • Engage with and grow the JavaScript and TypeScript developer community across different channels (e.g. Bluesky, X, Discord, meetups, and conferences)

  • Create high-quality technical content, including blog posts, tutorials, demos, and documentation

  • Represent vlt at conferences, meetups, webinars, and online events

  • Lead campaigns, product launches, and storytelling initiatives to drive awareness and adoption

  • Contribute code, examples, and integrations to vlt’s projects, including the registry, website, API and CLI

  • Gather community feedback and collaborate with engineering and product teams to inform the roadmap

  • Support partnerships and community programs that drive ecosystem adoption

  • Some travel required to conferences or industry events

The role requirements

  • 5+ years in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, Technical Marketing, or a similar role

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js

  • Experience contributing to open-source projects or active involvement in the JavaScript ecosystem

  • Proven ability to create engaging technical content and present to developer audiences

  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Ability to define and measure success using data-driven metrics

  • Experience with AI tools to complement work
