Development Officer, Marketing and Development - Support Services Center
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Area Manager of Marketing and Development, works with the Library Foundation to solicit donations, furthers donor relations, works on the annual giving campaigns and provides assistance to the Foundation in their fundraising efforts. Performs related and other work as required.
REQUIREMENTS
Training and Experience
- Attainment of Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university/college and at least one year related experience OR Two years related experience.
Highly Desirable Training and Experience
- Attainment of Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited university/college
- Fundraising experience
- Non-profit, economic and community development experience
- Special event planning
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- development programs, including membership programs, annual giving programs, grants, bequests, the planning for giving programs and overseeing a foundation;
- local and national foundations, corporate and other potential funding sources;
- marketing techniques and special event planning
- local volunteer agencies
- Computers and various software
Skills:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, twist, use hands to finger, grasp, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, talk and hear. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, crouch, squat, kneel, and crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds. Employee must frequently push and/or pull loaded book carts weighing up to 75 pounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Develop, cultivate, and manage key stakeholder relationships.
- Develop and implement membership programs, giving appeals, and awareness campaigns.
- Manage corporate and individual appeals and solicitations.
- Serves as staff liaison to the Shreve Memorial Library Foundation board fundraising committee, ensuring annual fundraising goals are met; coordinates activities of the Foundation Board including board meetings, retreats, and communications.
- In conjunction with the Area Manager of Marketing and Development, assists with planning and organizing the development activities of the library system and library foundation; implements and monitors fundraising and grant programs to strengthen the library systems collections and to support special programs through gifts, grants, annual giving and planned giving.
- Coordinates individual development efforts and programs with state and local agencies, library staff, Foundation, board and individual Friends groups; prepares grant proposals and reports; prepares annual and financial reports.
- Prepares periodic reports on activities in assigned areas of responsibility.
- Manages and maintains social media presence for the Foundation and its activities; manages and maintains Foundation website; and manages and maintains donor databases.
- Coordinates all correspondence with donors, sponsors and stakeholders, including e-mail communications, newsletters, donor acknowledgments, solicitations, etc.
- Professional Development: Attends monthly management meetings, meetings of appointed committees, workshops and conferences; meets quarterly with supervisor to review work plan;
- Other duties as needed.
TYPICAL SCHEDULE [subject to change without notice]
Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Occasional schedule changes may be required as related to assigned projects.

$1,148.40/weekly + benefits
