Development Scientist – Regulated & Applied Development

Join Oxford Nanopore’s Regulated & Applied Development team and play a key role in the development, verification and validation of next-generation sequencing platforms and end-to-end workflows.

As a Development Scientist, you will design and execute laboratory-based development and V&V studies, delivering high-quality experimental data to support new product development and lifecycle management. Working within a regulated environment, you’ll contribute to technically challenging projects while ensuring data integrity, compliance and scientific excellence.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing and executing development and V&V experiments.
  • Analysing and interpreting complex datasets to generate meaningful insights.
  • Troubleshooting technical challenges and contributing to root-cause investigations.
  • Producing clear experimental records, reports and technical documentation.
  • Supporting product development activities within ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality frameworks.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and workflows.

What we're looking for:

  • Degree in Biological, Chemical or Physical Sciences (or equivalent experience).
  • Laboratory experience working with DNA, RNA and/or protein samples.
  • Experience analysing and interpreting scientific data.
  • Strong understanding of molecular biology principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation and communication skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop.

Desirable experience:

  • Experience in a regulated or quality-controlled laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of Oxford Nanopore sequencing technologies.
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System (ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485).
  • Familiarity with Linux and/or Python.
