Join Oxford Nanopore’s Regulated & Applied Development team and play a key role in the development, verification and validation of next-generation sequencing platforms and end-to-end workflows.
As a Development Scientist, you will design and execute laboratory-based development and V&V studies, delivering high-quality experimental data to support new product development and lifecycle management. Working within a regulated environment, you’ll contribute to technically challenging projects while ensuring data integrity, compliance and scientific excellence.
What you'll be doing:
- Designing and executing development and V&V experiments.
- Analysing and interpreting complex datasets to generate meaningful insights.
- Troubleshooting technical challenges and contributing to root-cause investigations.
- Producing clear experimental records, reports and technical documentation.
- Supporting product development activities within ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality frameworks.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and workflows.
What we're looking for:
- Degree in Biological, Chemical or Physical Sciences (or equivalent experience).
- Laboratory experience working with DNA, RNA and/or protein samples.
- Experience analysing and interpreting scientific data.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology principles.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and communication skills.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop.
Desirable experience:
- Experience in a regulated or quality-controlled laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of Oxford Nanopore sequencing technologies.
- Experience working within a Quality Management System (ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485).
- Familiarity with Linux and/or Python.
