Role : DevOps Architect

Location : Mumbai

Shift: UK Shift(1-10pm)

Experience : 8 12 years in DevOps, platform engineering or cloud automation architecture

Role Type: Individual Contributor (no people management responsibilities)

THE ROLE

Linedata provides critical financial software to well-known global banking and asset management institutions. The Linedata Information Technology team is strengthening its global cloud operations, automation and architecture capability.

Define and govern the DevOps and automation architecture that enables teams to deliver secure, repeatable and supportable change across cloud environments. This is a hands-on DevOps architecture role focused on CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (with Terraform as a key capability), automation patterns and developer platform standards. It is distinct from a Platform Architect role (which focuses on underlying cloud platform design) and from an Enterprise Architect role (which focuses on organisation-wide strategy and business alignment). The DevOps Architect owns the tooling, patterns and governance that connect code to production safely and consistently. This is an Individual Contributor (IC) position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define the target DevOps architecture, principles, reference patterns and roadmap across source control, build, test, release, infrastructure as code, artefact management and platform services.
  • Design standard CI/CD pathways with embedded security, quality, approval, segregation-of-duty, traceability and rollback controls appropriate to service risk.
  • Architect and maintain Terraform-driven automation for infrastructure provisioning, including module design, state management, workspace strategy and drift detection.
  • Establish reusable pipeline templates, golden paths, modules and engineering standards that reduce variation while enabling product-team autonomy.
  • Own architecture for software supply-chain security, including dependency management, secrets, signing, provenance, vulnerability scanning and artefact integrity.
  • Provide architecture assurance for DevOps and automation designs; record decisions, exceptions, risks and technical debt and ensure remediation is governed.
  • Partner with Cloud Architecture to ensure pipeline and automation designs comply with identity, networking, resilience, observability, data and cost standards.
  • Guide adoption of GitOps, policy as code, automated compliance evidence and safe self-service where these improve control and delivery performance.
  • Set non-functional requirements and operational-acceptance standards so delivery tooling and platforms are reliable, observable, recoverable and supportable.
  • Technically direct the RFP DevOps service, reviewing designs, priorities, engineering quality and adherence to approved patterns.
  • Coach engineers and architects, build communities of practice and communicate complex choices in language appropriate to technical and senior stakeholders.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8-12 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, cloud automation or solution architecture in complex cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS or Azure (experience in both is desirable but not mandatory).
  • Deep expertise in Terraform for infrastructure as code, including module design, remote state, workspaces and CI-driven apply workflows.
  • Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipeline design and tooling at least two of: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps.
  • Strong experience with Git workflows, branching strategies and code-review practices at scale.
  • Experience with automated testing, container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes / ECS / EKS / AKS) and/or serverless architectures.
  • Strong understanding of secure software development, cloud security controls, resilience and regulated change.
  • Experience defining enterprise patterns and governing delivery across multiple teams without becoming a delivery bottleneck.
  • Ability to produce clear architecture documentation, diagrams and decision records.

GOOD-TO-HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
  • Familiarity with GitOps practices and tools (e.g. ArgoCD, Flux).
  • Experience with policy-as-code tools (e.g. OPA, Sentinel, AWS Config Rules, Azure Policy).
  • Relevant advanced certification (e.g. AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Terraform Associate / Professional, CKA).
  • Experience with observability platforms (e.g. Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor).
  • Familiarity with FinOps principles and cloud cost governance.
  • Experience in financial services, asset management or regulated industries.

DEVOPS TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY STACK

The DevOps Architect should demonstrate expertise across the following areas:

  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (primary), CloudFormation or Bicep (secondary).
  • CI/CD Pipelines: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps.
  • Source Control: Git, GitHub, GitLab.
  • Configuration Management: Ansible.
  • Container and Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS, AKS.
  • Artefact Management: JFrog Artifactory, Nexus, ECR, ACR, GitHub Packages.
  • Security and Compliance: SonarQube, Snyk, Trivy, Checkov, tfsec, OPA, Sentinel.
  • Observability: Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor.
  • Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell.
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS and/or Azure.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strategic-to-practical thinking Able to move between strategy, architecture and practical engineering detail.
  • Design judgement Strong design judgement, including clear articulation of options, trade-offs and consequences.
  • Technical leadership Influential technical leadership across organisational and supplier boundaries.
  • Pragmatic standardisation Creates guardrails and paved roads that teams will actually adopt.
  • Architecture communication High-quality written architecture, diagrams, standards and decision records.
