DevOps Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic software development company based in Klerksdorp, North West, is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join their growing team. This role is central to bridging the gap between software development and IT operations, ensuring efficient and reliable software delivery pipelines. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD processes, and automation tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and experience with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for collaboration within our Klerksdorp office while also providing flexibility. You will play a key role in optimizing deployment processes, enhancing system reliability, and fostering a culture of continuous integration and continuous delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using Kubernetes.
• Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions.
• Ensure the security and compliance of cloud environments.
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to streamline the software development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment-related issues.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations for incident response.
• Document infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
• Stay updated with the latest DevOps tools and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a DevOps or SRE role.
• Proven experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, etc.).
• Strong experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools.
• Understanding of networking principles and security best practices.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
