Devops Engineer (Banking)
Summary
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure, and ensure reliability for Java-based enterprise workflow apps in a banking environment using AWS/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
Role Overview
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to support and enhance enterprise workflow applications in a dynamic banking environment. In this role, you will work across the full application lifecycle - from development and deployment to monitoring and maintenance. You will be responsible for building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure, and ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our workflow platforms.

Key Responsibilities
Application Development & Maintenance
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance and maintain Java-based enterprise workflow applications.
- Optimise application performance, scalability, and reliability across environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues across development, testing, and production environments.
DevOps Implementation
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient application deployment.
- Automate build, test, deployment, and monitoring processes.
- Integrate infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions for provisioning and managing resources.
- Work with vendors to upgrade the DevOps tools farm and integrate with existing tools.
- Configure SSO, SSL, load balancers, auto-scaling, and DNS setup for the DevOps toolset, following naming conventions.
System Support & Monitoring
- Manage cloud-based and on-premise infrastructure supporting enterprise workflow applications.
- Monitor systems for uptime, performance, and security.
- Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with development, operations, and QA teams to align DevOps practices.
- Document processes, tools, and system configurations.
- Advocate for best practices in DevOps, automation, and application lifecycle management.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure applications and systems meet security and compliance standards.
- Implement secure coding practices and conduct regular vulnerability assessments.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in DevOps engineering.
Essential Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools - Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Artifactory, Sonar, Veracode, JIRA, and Confluence .
- Experience with continuous testing techniques and tools - JUnit, SonarCube, Veracode .
- Proficiency in containerisation and orchestration - Docker and Kubernetes .
- Experience with cloud platforms - AWS, Azure, or GCP - and IaC tools - Terraform, Ansible .
- Strong scripting skills - Bash, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, or Groovy .
- Knowledge of monitoring tools - Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk .
- Familiarity with workflow automation tools and enterprise workflow management systems.
- Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps principles.
