DevOps Engineer

Summary

Own and scale cloud infrastructure on AWS and DigitalOcean, build CI/CD pipelines for PHP (Laravel) and JavaScript (Vue.js) apps, and automate deployments with Docker and IaC tools.

Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Management & Ownership: Take full ownership of the cloud infrastructure across AWS and DigitalOcean, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security;
CI/CD Pipeline Design: Designing, building, and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines optimized for PHP (Laravel) and JavaScript (Vue.js) applications;
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Maintaining and expanding the existing infrastructure using IaC tools to ensure reproducible and documented environments;
Monitoring & Alerting: Setting up, optimizing, and monitoring application and server metrics; establishing proactive alerting systems to minimize downtime;
Collaboration & Leadership: Acting as a key DevOps stakeholder (co-leading the infra direction in a 2-person team), collaborating closely with the development team to streamline deployment processes and troubleshoot issues.

Requirements:
Essential
Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, Route53, etc.) and DigitalOcean (Droplets, Spaces, Load Balancers);
Proficient with CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitHub Actions) specifically for deploying web applications;
Deep understanding of Docker (writing optimized Dockerfiles, managing multi-container environments);
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix administration, web servers (Nginx, Apache), and process managers;
Experience managing and scaling databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching layers (Redis, Memcached);
Proficiency in Bash or Python for automation tasks.

Desirable

Experience with Terraform or Ansible;
Basic or hands-on experience with Kubernetes (e.g., AWS EKS or DigitalOcean Kubernetes) in case of future migration;
Understanding the lifecycle of Laravel app (queues, Horizon, Artisan) and Vue.js building/caching strategies (Vite/Webpack);
Experience with ELK stack, OpenSearch, Graylog, or cloud-native logging.
Experience with security, privacy, and compliance standards and regulations, such as HIPAA, ISO 27001, and GDPR, would be a plus.
