DevOps engineer owning infrastructure, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, internal developer tooling and automation (Python/Bash, Ansible) plus Docker/Kubernetes environments at a research-driven cybersecurity company serving the public sector. Fully on-site in Poblenou, Barcelona, with end-to-end ownership from fix to operations.
We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to own infrastructure, CI/CD and internal tooling for a cybersecurity company in Barcelona
- Location: Barcelona, Poblenou (100% on-site, by design)
- Salary: Competitive salary based on your experience and skills
- Benefits: Private health insurance, food allowance and wellness benefit, flexible office hours
About the company
A fast-growing, research-driven cybersecurity company based in Barcelona, developing advanced technology for the public sector (B2G).
- Mission-led: the product is built to make the world safer, and that purpose shapes how the team works
- Deep tech: original research and engineering applied to some of the most complex challenges in security
- Ownership culture: engineers take projects from concept to production, and their ideas carry weight
About the role
A broad, hands-on position spanning infrastructure, systems administration and developer tooling. You identify the problem, choose the practical solution and own it through to operations.
Day-to-day
- Internal tooling: build, deploy and maintain the services and tools that improve developer workflows
- Infrastructure and pipelines: enhance existing systems and GitLab CI/CD pipelines, troubleshoot issues and drive them to resolution
- Automation: script recurring tasks and configuration with Python or Bash and Ansible, contributing code where needed
- Containerized environments: operate and evolve Docker and Kubernetes setups
- Cross-team collaboration: work with developers, QA and operations to diagnose problems and accelerate delivery
- Continuous improvement: evaluate new technologies and AI-assisted tools that raise productivity
- End-to-end ownership: from initial fix to operational follow-through
What you’ll need
- Hands-on experience in DevOps, systems administration, platform engineering or developer tooling
- Solid Linux, networking and command-line fundamentals
- Practical experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes
- Scripting skills in Python or Bash, working knowledge of Ansible, and comfort reading or modifying code
- A pragmatic approach: you improve what already exists rather than defaulting to rewrites
- Strong communication, a service-oriented mindset and fluent English
- Nice to have: experience with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, OpenCode) and Go
Who should apply?
A DevOps or systems engineer who enjoys owning solutions end to end, takes pride in making other engineers more effective, and is comfortable working on-site every day in Poblenou.
