Job Title/High Level Position Summary:
We are seeking a talented and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team. This role will contribute to the design, automation, operation, and continuous improvement of our cloud platforms, development workflows, and production environments.
The DevOps Engineer will play a key role in enabling engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable software through infrastructure as code, CI/CD automation, observability, and cloud-native practices. The ideal candidate is passionate about improving developer productivity, system reliability, and operational excellence, while applying sound engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges.
Experience with our technology stack is beneficial, but we are primarily seeking engineers who demonstrate strong DevOps fundamentals, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly. The DevOps Engineer will play a key role in building real-time, high-performance applications that integrate with optical navigation systems and surgical hardware to enhance surgeon workflows and improve patient outcomes. The ideal candidate is passionate about building robust, user-centric software in a highly regulated medical device environment and thrives in collaborative, cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and platform services to support software delivery and production operations
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to enable consistent, repeatable, and automated environment provisioning
Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines that enable reliable and efficient software delivery
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineering, clinical research, product management, and quality to define and deliver software requirements
Partner with software engineers to improve system reliability, deployment processes, operational readiness, and developer experience
Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions to support production systems
Contribute to security, compliance, and governance initiatives across cloud environments and delivery pipelines
Investigate production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative improvements
Support application performance, scalability, availability, and disaster recovery initiatives.
Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and engineering standards.
Participate in Agile delivery processes and contribute to ongoing improvements in engineering practices and platform capabilities.
Advocate for automation and elimination of manual operational tasks wherever practical
Participate in verification and validation activities in collaboration with V&V teams to ensure compliance with medical device standards and regulatory requirements.
Scope / Role Dimensions
Supports cloud platforms, deployment pipelines, observability tooling, and production and development environments
Collaborates closely with software engineers, architects, security, QA, and product teams
Contributes to platform engineering initiatives that improve reliability, developer productivity, and operational excellence
Participates in both project delivery and operational support activities
Helps establish and promote DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Infrastructure as Code best practices
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
2+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Software Engineering roles
Experience working with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure automation practices
Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines and software delivery workflows
Experience with Linux-based systems, containers, and distributed applications
Understanding of networking, security, identity management, and cloud architecture fundamentals
Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability practices
Experience working with version control systems such as Git
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience working within Agile software development environments
Desired Qualifications
We value strong engineering and DevOps fundamentals over direct experience with specific technologies. Candidates who have worked with comparable cloud, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, or observability platforms are encouraged to apply.
Experience with AWS services such as ECS, Fargate, CloudFront, S3, WAF, RDS, ECR, GuardDuty, CloudTrail and VPC
Experience operating production workloads within containerized environments
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, or CloudFormation
Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using TeamCity with the Kotlin DSL
Experience implementing observability solutions using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, OpenTelemetry, or related tooling
Experience with SIEM tooling such as CrowdStrike Falcon and CSPM tooling such as WIZ
Experience with identity and authentication platforms such as Azure AD B2C, Entra ID, Auth0, Okta, or similar solutions
Understanding of SRE concepts including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and operational metrics
Experience working in regulated, safety-critical software and regulated environments
