DevOps Engineer

Position

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to work out of the Contour Software Karachi resource center office, as an extension of the division‑based R&D department.

Responsibilities

• Participate in LiveOps functions.
• Perform server administration: configuring, managing, patching (Windows/Linux).
• Execute IIS management and be primary for 3rd‑party multiple Domain/SSL Management (single/UCC).
• Participate in in‑office and after‑hours on‑call rotation.
• Respond promptly to system alerts and evaluate root cause.
• Maintain internal ticket for customer‑facing issues.
• Database troubleshooting: identify constraints and communicate findings.
• Document processes and procedures as needed.
• Implement DNS management through 3rd‑party tools.
• Leverage scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.) for deployment and maintenance functions.
• Perform basic Microsoft SQL Server administration/scripting as required.

Communication / Teamwork

• Work collaboratively in a team‑oriented, results‑driven environment.
• Communicate with all internal teams about the health and status of services.
• Hold other team members accountable for quality.
• Clearly and promptly communicate defects, issues, or concerns.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree preferred in Computer Science or equivalent experience; or relevant experience may replace degree.
• 2–3 years DevOps experience (including exempt and non‑exempt positions).
• At least 2 years maintaining cloud infrastructure.
• At least 3 years of system administration.
• Understanding of Git and its use cases.
• Ability to support multiple flavors of Linux.
• Knowledge of Windows Server.
• Understanding of IP routing tables.
• Understanding of ELB, CDN, and VPC concepts.
• Ability to maintain a server without SSH/RDP.
• Strong familiarity with scripting languages/frameworks: shell, PowerShell, Python, Bash.
• Knowledge of HTML/XML/YAML.
• Experience with web technologies (DNS, HTTP, SSL).
• Experience with database systems and ability to create queries, troubleshoot stored procedures.
• Moderate DB skills in MS SQL, MySQL, or Postgres.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
• Accurate documentation skills.
• Review, assess, communicate, and resolve security issues promptly.
