DevOps Engineer (Infrastructure Build) | €57k

Most DevOps roles maintain systems that already exist.

This one's different: you'll be building the infrastructure from scratch that powers large-scale simulation and AI-driven drug discovery.

We need a hands-on builder — someone who creates systems, not just configures them.

What you'll do

  • Build containerised systems (Docker / Podman)
  • Design multi-service environments (Docker Compose / Swarm)
  • Build CI/CD pipelines end-to-end (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
  • Create automation and tooling for engineering and R&D teams
  • Work deep in Linux (systemd, networking, shell scripting, debugging)
  • Support compute-heavy scientific and AI workloads

Must-haves

  • Proven experience building with Docker — not just running containers
  • Experience designing CI/CD pipelines from the ground up
  • Track record of building infrastructure independently

Nice to have

  • Python for automation
  • Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, alerting)
  • HPC, AI, simulation, or research computing exposure
  • Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Ansible or similar)

Not the right fit if you:

  • Mainly work within managed cloud/DevOps platforms
  • Configure existing pipelines rather than build new ones
  • Aren't comfortable troubleshooting at the Linux level
  • Prefer ticket-based, maintenance-style work

This isn't maintenance work — it's a builder role at the intersection of infrastructure and science, where what you create directly enables drug discovery.

If you love building systems properly from the ground up, you'll feel right at home.
