DevOps Engineer
Summary
Entry-level (0-2 yrs, fresh grads welcome) DevOps engineer on JAPFA Comfeed's internal team in South Jakarta, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and AWS (ECS/EKS) container deployments. Day to day: automating builds/deploys with GitLab CI/GitHub Actions, Docker, scripting, and Datadog monitoring.
We are looking for motivated DevOps engineers who are passionate about automation and software delivery to join our team in building, maintaining, and improving our CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows on AWS, with a strong focus on enabling development teams to ship reliably and quickly.
Responsibilities
• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
• Containerize applications using Docker and support deployments to AWS container services such as Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks through scripting and configuration management tools.
• Implement and maintain application monitoring, logging, and alerting using Datadog to improve visibility and reduce incident response time.
• Investigate and troubleshoot build, deployment, and runtime issues across environments by analyzing Datadog logs, traces, and metrics, and work with development teams on root cause analysis and fixes.
• Support release management, environment management (development, staging, production), and rollback procedures.
• Integrate security practices into the delivery pipeline (e.g., dependency scanning, image scanning, secret management with AWS Secrets Manager) in collaboration with the security team.
• Develop, review, and maintain DevOps SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation.
• Stay up to date with DevOps tools and AWS practices, and promote automation and continuous improvement across teams.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or other related fields.
• 0–2 years of experience in DevOps, software development, or system administration roles.
(Fresh graduates with relevant skills, projects, or labs are welcome to apply.)
• Hands-on experience with Git and Git-based workflows (branching, merge requests, code review).
• Basic experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerization concepts.
• Good understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
• Scripting ability in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts and AWS core services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC).
• Familiarity with Datadog, or a solid understanding of monitoring fundamentals (metrics, logs, traces, alerting) and willingness to learn Datadog.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical, detail-oriented approach: able to dig into logs, metrics, and configurations to isolate the root cause of an issue rather than only fixing the symptoms.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail, strong sense of ownership, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
• AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, or Kubernetes certifications such as CKAD or CKA.
(Certifications are a plus, not a requirement.)
• Hands-on experience with Datadog APM, log management, or monitors.
• Experience with Amazon EKS / Kubernetes and tools such as Helm or Argo CD.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts and practices.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile practices.
• A portfolio of personal projects, open-source contributions, or public pipeline/automation repositories is a plus.
