DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes & OT Integration)
Summary
Maintains and secures Kubernetes-based production environments while integrating operational technology (OT) systems with enterprise platforms using industrial protocols like OPC UA and MQTT.
Requirements
Proven experience managing and operating Kubernetes-based production environments.
Strong knowledge of Kubernetes ecosystem, including Helm, Operators, CRDs, and container lifecycle management.
Hands-on experience with MQTT brokers, clustering, performance tuning, and high-availability deployments.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps practices using tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
Understanding of OT/IT integration and industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, or EtherNet/IP.
Experience implementing secure cloud-native solutions using mTLS, RBAC, ACLs, and certificate management.
Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
Experience working in regulated environments (GxP, CSV, ALCOA+, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11) is highly desirable.
Strong troubleshooting skills with experience performing root cause analysis (RCA) and supporting incident management.
Nice to have
Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences environments.
Knowledge of ISA-95 and Purdue Model architecture.
Experience with SCADA, MES, Historian platforms (e.g., OSIsoft PI), and PLC environments.
Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD) or cloud certifications.
Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and maintain highly available MQTT brokers running on Kubernetes.
Build and manage Infrastructure as Code and GitOps deployment pipelines.
Design and maintain secure, reliable data pipelines between OT systems and enterprise platforms.
Integrate industrial systems using protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, and EtherNet/IP.
Ensure GxP compliance, data integrity (ALCOA+), and audit readiness across the platform.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, security controls, and certificate management.
Monitor platform health and performance using Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
Investigate production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and support CAPA and deviation processes.
Collaborate with IT, OT, and Quality teams to ensure secure and reliable manufacturing data flows.
