DevOps Engineer (m/w/d) (GitLab Platform)

DevOps Engineer maintaining a self-managed GitLab platform, focusing on CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Terraform, Ansible), and container tech for a telecom company.
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer (GitLab Platform) to join a leading telecommunications company in Zurich. This is a high-impact contract opportunity with strong prospects for permanent employment.

Your Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and continuously enhance the GitLab platform (Self-Managed) as the central tool for CI/CD, source control, and collaboration.
- Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines and shared pipeline templates for development teams.
- Integrate and operate developer tooling, including container registries, artifact management, code quality tools, and security scanning solutions.
- Automate provisioning, upgrades, and configuration of the GitLab infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of the platform.
- Support development teams in adopting and optimizing their CI/CD workflows.
- Define and implement operational models for monitoring, alerting, backup, and disaster recovery.
Your Profile
- Degree in Computer Science (University, University of Applied Sciences, Higher Technical Education, or equivalent certification) or comparable further education, combined with several years of professional experience.
- Extensive experience operating and administering GitLab (Self-Managed), including GitLab CI/CD, runner management, and platform configuration.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD concepts, pipeline design, and automation.
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their integration into CI/CD workflows.
- Good knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Helm.
- Solid Linux and system engineering experience.
- Proven ability to quickly familiarize yourself with existing platforms and deliver value from day one.
- Independent and pragmatic working style with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Strong team spirit and enjoyment of collaborating with development teams.
- Fluent English; German is an advantage.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with GitLab Geo, GitLab Pages, or GitLab Kubernetes Agent.
- Knowledge of security tooling, including SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, and container scanning.
- Experience with artifact management systems such as Harbor, Nexus, or Artifactory.
- Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, as well as log management solutions.Experience with ArgoCD or other GitOps tools.
- Experience in service provider, telecommunications (Telco), or managed services environments.
- Willingness to participate in on-call duty rotations and residence in Switzerland.
