Requirements:
  • Strong commercial experience within a DevOps Engineering role
  • Expertise with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps or similar
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
  • Strong scripting skills using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar
  • Experience with containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Strong understanding of Linux and distributed systems
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools
  • Familiarity with security and compliance best practices within enterprise environments
  • Previous experience within Financial Services or a highly regulated environment
  • Exposure to SRE principles and observability tooling
  • Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical applications
Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and support CI/CD pipelines
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management
  • Support cloud-based and on-premise environments
  • Drive DevOps best practices across development teams
  • Monitor and maintain platform performance, availability, and security
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and deployment issues
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and stakeholders to improve delivery processes
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and automation initiatives

We are Barclays, a high-performing technology team supporting the delivery of critical applications and infrastructure across the bank. This is a 6-month contract role working inside IR35 via umbrella, with a hybrid working pattern of 2 days per week in the office. We prefer Glasgow as the location, though Manchester or Northampton are also considered. This opportunity offers the chance to work in a large-scale enterprise environment, helping to drive automation, improve CI/CD processes, and support cloud-native engineering practices while collaborating closely with development, infrastructure, and security teams to build robust, scalable, and secure platforms.
