DevOps Engineer

Summary

The DevOps Engineer will design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate build, deployment, and configuration processes using Azure DevOps and Git-based workflows.

Salary: £45,000 - 45,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines within enterprise environments.
  • Strong automation experience across build, deployment, configuration and environment management activities.
  • Experience working with source control, branching strategies, release management and modern software delivery practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps, Git-based workflows and YAML-driven pipeline automation.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using technologies such as PowerShell, Python or Bash.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications, APIs, databases and service-oriented architectures.
  • Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift and Helm.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, alerting and observability solutions.
  • A solid understanding of operational resilience, deployment risk management, incident investigation and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience working across both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for reducing manual effort through automation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operational and business teams.
Responsibilities:
  • Designing, maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines that support safe, repeatable and auditable software releases.
  • Automating build, deployment, configuration and environment management activities to reduce manual effort and improve delivery efficiency.
  • Working with engineering teams to improve branching strategies, build validation, deployment readiness and release governance processes.
  • Creating and maintaining Infrastructure as Code, deployment scripts, reusable templates and configuration standards.
  • Enhancing observability through logging, monitoring, alerting, dashboards and operational telemetry.
  • Supporting service reliability, resilience and operational readiness through proactive monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Investigating deployment failures, incidents and recurring operational issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable improvements.
  • Embedding security, access control, secrets management and vulnerability management practices within delivery pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Maintaining and improving development, test and release environments to support efficient software delivery.
  • Supporting disaster recovery, business continuity and operational resilience activities.
  • Contributing to DevOps standards, best practices and communities of practice, helping teams adopt consistent and scalable ways of working.
  • Using operational and delivery metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and demonstrate measurable business value.
