Devops Engineer (Open-source Experience)

The Opportunity

NPCI is looking for a highly skilled DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure Enginner to join its Cloud Computing & Data Center team. This role is focused on building and enhancing modern infrastructure platforms through a combination of Python development, infrastructure automation, Linux engineering, and configuration management expertise.

The ideal candidate will possess strong software development capabilities along with hands-on exposure to infrastructure operations, automation frameworks, and platform engineering practices. The role offers an opportunity to contribute towards large-scale infrastructure modernization, internal platform development, and automation initiatives supporting NPCI's mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

Python Development & Platform Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications, automation tools, and internal platforms using Python.
• Build and enhance applications using the Django framework.
• Develop, integrate, and maintain REST APIs for infrastructure and platform services.
• Automate operational workflows, provisioning activities, and infrastructure management functions through software engineering practices.
• Contribute to platform engineering initiatives aimed at improving developer and operations productivity.

Infrastructure Automation & Configuration Management

• Implement and manage infrastructure automation using SaltStack (preferred), Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Develop reusable automation modules, playbooks, and configuration templates.
• Automate server provisioning, configuration management, patch management, and operational tasks.
• Drive standardization and consistency across infrastructure environments.

Linux Administration & Operations

• Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based environments in production.
• Manage services using Systemd and related Linux service management frameworks.
• Perform SSH administration and secure remote system management.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of infrastructure incidents.
• Monitor and optimize server performance, resource utilization, and system stability.

Network & Infrastructure Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot DNS, Firewall, Routing, Connectivity, and Network-related issues.
• Analyze and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks related to CPU, Memory, Storage, and Network performance.
• Work closely with infrastructure, network, and application teams to ensure platform reliability and availability.

AI-Driven Operations

• Leverage AI-powered tools and platforms for automation, troubleshooting, operational productivity, scripting assistance, and knowledge acceleration.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency using AI-assisted workflows and automation practices.

Primary Mandatory Skills - Development

Python Development

• Strong development experience in Python.
• Hands-on expertise with Django Framework.
• Experience in REST API Development and Integration.
• Good understanding of software design principles and backend application development.
• Experience building automation tools, internal platforms, or infrastructure-related applications.
