DevOps Engineer

Summary

The DevOps Engineer will manage, monitor, and automate infrastructure and applications for high-frequency trading and financial data pipelines. The role involves working with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure, utilizing tools such as Prometheus and Grafana to ensure system stability.

In this role, you will have opportunities in coding, building, testing, releasing, configuring,administering and monitoring of infrastructure and applications deployed on-premise and in the cloud.You will also be encouraged to use the latest technologies and techniques including Artificial Intelligence,Machine Learning and Process Automation to enhance and improve our service offering.You will also be working with technically savvy co-workers involved in the Financial Industry

Responsibilities

  • Operations and support for High Frequency Stock Trading, Financial Market Data Pipelines and CloudPlatforms including AWS, GCP and Azure
  • Work with different IT teams in the firm such as Development, Data, and Research teams with the goal ofalways improving IT operations
  • Configuration and maintenance of application services using automation tools and CI/CD pipelines thatthe team will develop and maintain
  • Continuous improvement on all facets of IT operations including deployment and end to end testing usingautomation
  • Ensure stability and support of all in scope applications and infrastructure, performing business asusual (BAU) requests and developing/maintaining a run book of operational processes
  • Maintain and improve monitoring of the platform and ownership of these tools/dashboards usingPrometheus/Grafana and others
  • Handling incidents/outages affecting application services up to problem management

Required for the Role

  • At least 1-2 years work/personal experience in Supporting Linux environments
  • Must have fundamental UNIX/Linux knowledge with strong command line skills
  • Willing to learn, a positive attitude, and detail oriented personality
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work in the BGC office in a 24x7 shift environment

Desirable

  • Work experience in a global financial institution and/or Start-up IT company
  • Work experience using cloud providers preferrably AWS
  • Possessing fundamental knowledge of Linux operating systems and software on client-server architecture
  • Experience in shell scripting and Python programming
  • Establishing the root causes of incidents, and only escalating when necessary
  • Ability to analyze software application functionality and suggesting improvements
