Summary

One of the first two engineering hires at a new venture of a UK household-name business, building products from scratch on AWS in a Python-first, agentic stack. The DevOps Engineer owns AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and security tooling, and supports data/ML/LLM workloads as the team grows to 20-30 people.

A household-name UK business is going through a major digital transformation and has set up a new venture to build its next generation of products and services. It has its own brand, its own new offices in central London, and the freedom to build its technology from a blank page.

Everything is being built from scratch on AWS, Python-first and agentic from day one. The tech team is led by an experienced interim CTO who has launched and scaled new technology businesses before, and it will grow to 20 to 30 people. This is one of the first two engineering hires.

What you’ll do

  • Own the AWS infrastructure and keep it stable, secure and cost-aware as it grows
  • Build and run the deployment pipelines so every squad can ship safely and often
  • Build the cloud foundations with the Principal Solutions Architect:
  • Be the day-to-day technical contact for the AWS teams supporting the build
  • Bring modern DevOps practice to the squads from the first sprint: CI/CD, monitoring, security tooling
  • Support data, ML and LLM workloads as the agentic stack comes together

What you’ll bring

  • Hands-on experience running production workloads on AWS
  • Strong DevOps experience: building and running CI/CD pipelines for engineering teams
  • Comfortable supporting Python-based services
  • Happy working directly with a cloud provider’s technical teams
  • The initiative to pick up a problem and solve it with limited direction
