DevOps Engineer

In this role you help build and operate a cloud-based platform within the UK Digital Competence Centre, using DevSecOps practices to support development teams. You’ll design secure, scalable Azure infrastructure and automate CI/CD pipelines to deliver reliable software. You work in an agile setting, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the platform’s security, resilience and developer experience. This is a chance to influence Thales UK’s cloud strategy and secure digital services.

• Design and build cloud-based infrastructure on Azure
• Create and manage secure, low-maintenance cloud environments using DevSecOps
• Develop tools to enable efficient CI/CD pipelines
• Shape and grow the cloud estate with minimal legacy systems
• Automate development and release processes
• Support release and production environments as needed
• Maintain the technical solution for infrastructure
• Provide automated tools/scripts to provision resources
• Ensure security and operational best practices (monitoring, backups, log management) are upheld
• Educate and communicate security and operational constraints to the team

• Active interest and self-development in cloud operating environment
• Understanding of cloud IaaS and PaaS
• Scripting language skills
• Strong Azure experience
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Ansible)
• Experience with build and CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to application development
• Knowledge of cloud design patterns
• Eligible for Security Clearance (SC) or willingness to obtain
• UK residence history for SC (typically last 5 years)
