DevOps Engineer

Summary

DevOps Engineer at a quantum technology scaleup, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines across FPGA, embedded, and software projects using Podman, Terraform, Ansible, and GCP. No quantum computing experience required.

Noord-Holland, Netherlands | Permanent | €85,000 + Excellent Benefits

Quantum computing experience is NOT a requirement.

Are you an experienced DevOps Engineer looking for the opportunity to work with genuinely cutting-edge technology?

We’re partnering with a fast-growing deep-tech scaleup in the quantum technology space to recruit a DevOps Engineer — and you do not need a background in quantum computing, physics or quantum technology to be considered.

What we’re looking for is strong DevOps and infrastructure engineering experience, a passion for automation and the ability to work alongside highly technical engineering teams. You’ll learn the quantum side on the job.

About the company:

Our client is helping accelerate the development of scalable quantum computers. They build advanced quantum control systems used by leading laboratories and quantum startups around the world.

Their technology sits directly alongside quantum processors, providing the control and readout capabilities needed to run sophisticated quantum experiments.

It’s a unique environment where software engineering, hardware and cutting-edge scientific research come together.

About the role:

You’ll join a growing DevOps team working across FPGA, embedded systems and high-level software.

This is a hands-on role with plenty of scope to make an impact. You’ll build and improve CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure, improve reliability and help engineering teams adopt modern DevOps practices.

There’s a substantial technical backlog and plenty of opportunity to influence how DevOps is done as the company scales.

What you’ll be doing:

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines across FPGA, embedded and software projects

Automate build, testing and deployment workflows

Improve infrastructure reliability, scalability and monitoring

Work with Podman, Ansible, Terraform, GCP, libvirt and QEMU/KVM

Implement secure DevOps practices

Support governance, compliance and change-control requirements

Partner with engineering teams to improve development and delivery processes

Help teams adopt DevOps practices and continuous improvement

Contribute to backlog management and help shape ways of working

What we’re looking for:

3+ years’ experience in DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering or a similar role

Strong experience with CI/CD, build automation and deployment

Hands-on experience with containers such as Podman, Docker or similar

Experience with Terraform and/or Ansible

Cloud experience, ideally GCP

Strong Linux and scripting skills

Understanding of security, compliance and governance within DevOps

Strong communication and collaboration skills

A proactive, hands-on approach to solving technical problems

It would be a bonus if you have:

Experience with libvirt, QEMU or KVM

Exposure to FPGA or embedded development environments

Experience driving DevOps adoption across engineering teams

Experience in semiconductors, hardware, scientific instrumentation or other deep-tech environments

Experience working in a high-growth startup or scaleup.
