A software product company that builds case-management technology for state and county government agencies is seeking a DevOps Manager. You will lead and grow a small platform engineering team while staying hands-on yourself — roughly half your time managing and coaching, the other half in architecture, automation, and production work. The team is actively modernizing from the ground up, building real security practices, observability, and release automation largely from scratch. This is a fully remote, US-based role with a collaborative, hands-on team and real room to shape how the platform is run.
Salary: $200,000 - $230,000

- Experience managing and growing a small engineering team (roughly 4-6 people) while remaining hands-on
- Strong AWS architecture and cost-management experience
- Experience with GitOps/CI-CD and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Argo CD, GitLab, or similar)
- Background in a regulated environment (healthcare, government, or financial services) with SOC 2/HIPAA-type experience
- Comfortable with after-hours/on-call work as an ongoing part of the role
Pluses:
- Experience with Grafana, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, or a comparable observability stack
- Experience leading or contributing to a monolith-to-microservices migration
- AWS Solutions Architect certification
- Experience administering self-managed GitLab (vs. GitHub-only environments)
