DevOps & Release Engineer, Elite
About the Team
Point of Rental is the global leader in rental software. Our platform runs the day-to-day operations of thousands of rental businesses worldwide. This team owns the enterprise cloud applications at the center of that platform, including a multi-year modernization of our battle-tested WinForms product into a modern web UI. We're hiring a DevOps & Release Engineer to own how that product gets built, tested, and shipped, so every release is predictable, repeatable, and low-risk.
What You'll Do
Own the release lifecycle for our enterprise platform: plan release schedules, coordinate with Dev and QA, and run go/no-go readiness checks
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure for both the legacy desktop product and the new web application
Deploy updates, fixes, and hotfixes across environments (dev, QA, staging, production)
Manage versioning, branching, and build artifacts so every release is traceable
Define and maintain rollback plans so a failed release can be recovered quickly
Automate repetitive build, deploy, and release tasks with Python and Bash
Use AI coding tools every day to write scripts, troubleshoot pipelines, and speed up automation work
Investigate and resolve production and post-release issues, then fix the root cause in the process
Produce release notes and keep stakeholders informed on release status
Who You Are
3-5 years as a DevOps or Release Engineer, including owning releases end to end: scheduling, versioning, deployment, and rollback
Hands-on AWS experience in production environments
Strong Linux skills (Debian/Ubuntu preferred), including the command line
Strong scripting in Python (preferred) or Bash
Strong Git skills and experience with branching strategies such as GitFlow or trunk-based development
Experience with deployment and automation tools such as Jenkins, AWS SSM, Rundeck, or Ansible
Everyday use of AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar), with the judgment to review what they produce
Calm, methodical troubleshooting when a release goes sideways
Availability for occasional evening or weekend release windows
Preferred: Windows server environments, Docker, artifact repositories (Artifactory, Nexus, AWS ECR), blue/green or canary deployments, feature flags, NoSQL (DynamoDB, Redis), change management processes
Why Point of Rental
You'll own the release process for a product that thousands of rental businesses rely on every day, right as it moves to the web. You'll shape how a modernized platform ships, alongside principal-level engineers in an engineering org that leads on AI-driven development. If you want to make releases boring in the best way, this is your role.
