The Qualifications We Seek

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.

Skills & Experience

• 3 to 5 years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or a related technical role, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Strong understanding of Ruby on Rails application architecture and deployment best practices.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) providers, particularly AWS, Heroku, and Railway.
• Proficiency in GitHub Actions or similar continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks, particularly Playwright or comparable tools.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database management and performance optimization.
• Experience with application logging and monitoring platforms, including Datadog, New Relic, CloudWatch, or Papertrail.
• Familiarity with extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes and data pipeline development.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and inter-service communication.
• Ability to read and interpret Ruby code to diagnose application-level issues.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and production incident resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.

Your Daily Tasks

Essential Duties

• Manage deployment pipelines to ensure smooth, reliable application releases across multiple environments.
• Maintain and update application packages and dependencies to ensure security, stability, and optimal performance.
• Oversee server infrastructure across Heroku, Railway, AWS, and Render.
• Implement and maintain GitHub Actions workflows to automate continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) processes.
• Develop and maintain Playwright automated test frameworks within deployment pipelines.
• Monitor application performance and optimize database queries, API integrations, and microservices communication.
• Design and implement extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes to support business operations and data analytics.
• Implement and maintain comprehensive server logs and application performance monitoring solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues to maintain application availability and reliability.
• Collaborate with development teams to align application architecture with deployment requirements.
• Perform database maintenance, including backups, migrations, and performance optimization.
• Conduct regular security updates and manage patches for application packages and dependencies.
• Implement performance improvements based on application metrics and system performance data.
• Conduct application health checks and maintain effective uptime monitoring systems.
