DevSecOps Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on DevSecOps Engineer to support the design, automation, deployment, security, and operation of modern application and infrastructure environments.

The role will work closely with development, operations, security, and project teams to build secure CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure provisioning, manage containerised environments, and integrate security controls throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

The successful candidate should have practical experience with DevOps technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, cloud environments, Linux, containers, and security hardening.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with development, operations, security, and project teams within a DevOps and Agile environment.

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automated testing.

  • Develop DevOps strategies, processes, and toolsets based on application and project requirements.

  • Build, deploy, and maintain scalable and highly available application environments.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, application deployment, and operational activities.

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and AWS CloudFormation.

  • Build and maintain container image pipelines and containerised application environments.

  • Deploy and manage workloads using Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift.

  • Automate security hardening across development, testing, deployment, and production environments.

  • Implement security configurations based on recognised industry standards such as CIS benchmarks.

  • Integrate security practices and controls into CI/CD and software delivery processes.

  • Configure and maintain development, testing, deployment, and delivery environments.

  • Develop scripts and automation for system monitoring, service health checks, deployment, and operational tasks.

  • Perform day-to-day monitoring, deployment, backup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of systems.

  • Support cloud-provisioned infrastructure and troubleshoot Linux, Windows, network, and application-related issues.

  • Configure and troubleshoot load balancing, TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, routing, and related network components.

  • Work with infrastructure components including network switches, firewalls, routers, and load balancers.

  • Participate in technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Collaborate closely with developers to improve deployment reliability, application performance, security, and operational efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Automation.

  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience creating and managing CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience building CI/CD workflows using GitLab CI/CD or similar platforms.

  • Good understanding of continuous integration, continuous deployment, automated testing, version control, and software configuration management.

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

  • Experience using AWS CloudFormation for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.

  • Experience building and managing container images and container image pipelines.

  • Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised application environments.

  • Experience working with Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift to deploy and manage scalable applications.

  • Experience working with cloud-provisioned resources and cloud orchestration concepts.

  • Understanding of configuration management, scalability, high availability, and auto-scaling techniques.

  • Good understanding of Linux operating systems and system administration.

  • Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and network troubleshooting.

  • Understanding of IT security standards and system hardening practices, including CIS benchmarks.

  • Basic programming or scripting knowledge using Python, Java, or similar languages.

  • Good troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Experience working collaboratively within Agile development environments.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge or hands-on experience with DevSecOps principles and practices.

  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).

  • Experience with software-defined infrastructure platforms such as OpenStack.

  • Exposure to MLOps platforms and associated deployment tools.

  • Experience integrating security scanning or automated security controls into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Familiarity with vulnerability management, container security, and secure configuration practices.

  • Experience supporting both Linux and Windows environments.

  • Exposure to cloud security, monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
