Diesel Mechanic
Job Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and scheduled mechanical work on the entire fleet. This person also diagnoses and repairs vehicles as needed. The mechanic is accountable for keeping track of works in progress, ensuring that maintenance and repairs are completed thoroughly and efficiently.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on trucks and trailers, including BIT and annual inspections
- Runs computer diagnostics as necessary to accurately identify failures
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and overhaul brake, HVAC, and major drive line component systems
- Performs minor or major repairs as necessary
- Records damaged, worn, or broken parts
- Records accurate work orders using actual parts consumed, and actual labor hours
- Assists with timely entering of invoices to help manage accurate inventory
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies
- Coordinates with shop foreman to schedule regular maintenance on machines
- Performs other related duties as assigned
