Dietary Cook (Full Time)

Job Title: Nutrition Services Cook

Department: Nutrition Services

Job Summary: Prepares nutritional food for hospital patients, employees, and visitors. Assists in the requisition of food and supplies. Operates and maintains kitchen equipment.

Job Qualifications:
A. Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Ability to read and write.
C. Licensure, Registry or Certification: None required.
D. Experience: Prior work experience: One year of previous institutional food preparation preferred.

E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Position requires extended periods of
walking and standing. Some bending, stooping, and reaching for food
items and equipment. Pushing and pulling of food carts and lifting up to
50 pounds required. The ability to comprehend and follow written or
verbal instructions or directions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Prepares, seasons, and cooks food for patients, employees and visitors.
B. Operates and maintains kitchen equipment.
C. Obeys all safety requirements and procedures at all times.
D. Makes recommendations for menu items.
E. Assists Director with Inventory when necessary.
F. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Significant Requirements:
A. Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
B. Interacts with patients, family members, Medical Staff members, department managers, and other staff on a continuous basis.
C. Reports to work on time, maintains professionalism at all times, and performs duties with minimal supervision.
