Summary

A renal dietitian designs nutrition plans for dialysis patients, monitors lab trends, and educates patients on diet restrictions while collaborating with medical teams.

The renal dietitian performs clinical assessment of patients, designs nutrition protocols and quality improvement initiatives with the medical team, develops meal plans for dialysis patients, develops enteral and parenteral regimens, establishes nutritional guidelines for patients and families. This individual demonstrates experience working with nutrition care. Duties Responsibilities: Monitor lab values and progress toward goals and plans; analyze trends to guide care planning Develop personalized meal plans Counsel and educate to manage diet restrictions Manage fluid intake and recommendations Counsel patients about the use of vitamin supplements, medications and protein supplements Consult with the physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers Patient support and motivation Train new staff and Dietetic Interns; coaching, teaching, and mentoring Preparation and presentation of staff in-services. Demonstrate renal nutritional experience. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
