Our vision is for healthy and thriving rural health workforces, services, and communities across Aotearoa. Through advocacy, collaboration, and practical support, we work to strengthen rural healthcare and improve health outcomes for rural New Zealanders.
We're seeking an enthusiastic and capable Digital and Technical Support Enabler to lead an exciting new initiative supporting rural healthcare providers to successfully implement and use digitally enhanced healthcare services, including telehealth solutions.
This is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise, relationship building, project coordination, training, and problem-solving in a role that will make a genuine difference to rural communities throughout New Zealand.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this full-time fixed-term position will establish and operate a national Digital Health Enablement Service supporting rural general practices, hospitals, and pharmacies that have received Health New Zealand funding.
This is not a traditional IT support role.
You'll work directly with healthcare providers, helping them navigate the practical realities of introducing new technology into busy clinical environments. You'll provide advice, troubleshoot technical issues, support implementation projects, develop resources, facilitate learning opportunities, and build confidence among users with varying levels of digital experience.
Success in this role will come from your ability to combine sound technical knowledge with exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
A key part of your role will be to:
· Establish and operate a centralised digital support service for rural healthcare providers
· Support the implementation of GP Online and other digitally enabled healthcare initiatives
· Provide practical guidance on technology, cybersecurity, privacy, and digital systems
· Troubleshoot issues and work with providers to find practical solutions
· Develop implementation guides, resources, templates, and learning materials
· Deliver webinars, training sessions, and communities of practice
· Capture and share successful user stories and examples of digital innovation
· Build strong relationships with providers and key stakeholders across the rural health sector
· Monitor progress, gather feedback, and contribute to reporting and evaluation activities
· Travel regularly to rural locations throughout New Zealand to provide targeted on-site support (all travel costs will be covered)
About You
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, loves problem solving, and can quickly build credibility with a wide range of people.
You may be an early-career professional or recent graduate with strong technical capability and excellent communication skills. Equally, you may be a more experienced professional looking for a rewarding role where you can combine technology, project work, stakeholder engagement, and service improvement.
Applicants may come from a range of backgrounds including IT support, digital health, health technology, project coordination, customer success, training and enablement, change management, or other technology-focused roles involving stakeholder engagement and support.
To be successful, you'll ideally bring:
· Sound technical knowledge of IT systems, digital platforms, and technology solutions
· An understanding of cybersecurity, privacy, and information security principles
· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
· The ability to explain technical concepts clearly and confidently to non-technical audiences
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Experience supporting the implementation or adoption of new systems, technology, or processes
· Strong organisational and project planning skills
· A self-motivated and proactive approach to work
· The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
· Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
· A flexible, adaptable approach and willingness to travel regularly throughout New Zealand
