Digital/Frontend Developer

Salary: £58,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience as a Frontend Developer
• Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Next.js
• Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend tooling
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch and SQL-like databases
• Good understanding of Git and collaborative workflows
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS, and deployment strategies
• Comfortable working in an Agile, cross-functional team
• Security Clearance: SC cleared or SC eligible
• Nice to have: Experience with PyGeoAPI or GIS-related work
• Nice to have: Experience with Jira and Confluence

Responsibilities:

• Develop responsive, accessible user interfaces using Next.js, React, and TypeScript
• Collaborate with design and product teams to create intuitive, user-centred experiences
• Build frontends that integrate with internal APIs and search indexes
• Take part in code reviews, testing, debugging, and continuous improvements
• Maintain and enhance existing applications, diagnosing and resolving issues
• Contribute to technical documentation and help shape project requirements
• Implement and work with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing

We are hiring a Digital Developer (Frontend) to work on public sector and government digital services. This is a 6-month initial contract based in Exeter, with typically 1-2 days per week on site. The role is inside IR35, with an umbrella rate around £600 per day, and requires SC clearance or SC eligibility. We offer the opportunity to work on highly visible services, owning the full lifecycle of frontend features while focusing on UX/UI and collaborating in a cross-functional team.
