Summary

Assist in digital journalism production operations, training in web/social media writing and video production for news content across multiple Indian languages.

The Collective Newsroom is inviting applications for BBC India Trainee Scheme 2026-27 as part of its Diversity and Inclusion commitment. You will join the Collective Newsroom as a Digital Journalism Trainee, assisting in Production Operations. The Production Operations Trainee will undergo structured training across various operational functions within the television production environment. The role is designed to develop a strong understanding of Live and recorded broadcast workflows, studio operations, production coordination, media management, and technical processes. The trainee will support day-to-day production activities while gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of live news bulletins, studio recordings, and special productions.
  • Support production teams in ensuring studios, galleries, and technical areas are operationally ready before broadcasts
  • Learn and assist with newsroom workflows, production schedules, and rundown management.

Learning Objectives

During the training period, the trainee is expected to develop knowledge and practical experience in:
  • Television production workflows
  • Live broadcast operations
  • Studio and gallery coordination


Requirements

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mass Communication, Broadcast Journalism, Television Production, Media Studies, Electronics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Fresh graduates or candidates with up to one year of relevant internship or industry experience are encouraged to apply.


Skills & Competencies
  • Strong interest in television broadcasting and live production.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and production systems.

Working Conditions
  • Willingness to work in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced live broadcast environment.
  • Availability to support special events, breaking news, and outside broadcasts when required.
