  • We are seeking an attentive, calm, and proactive Direct Support Professional to join an engaging support team for an adult individual with nonverbal autism. This role focuses on building a positive partnership rooted in dignity, connection, and community participation while encouraging personal autonomy and skill building.
  • You will work alongside another team member in a 2:1 support model as part of an enthusiastic support network that includes Waiver Providers coordinating daily activities, specialized educators (a Special Education Tutor,
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication Specialist, and Assistive Technology Specialist), and various community activity facilitators and camp hosts.
  • Schedule & Hours: Shift hours are typically 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with occasional requests for an earlier star tor later finish, plus the possibility of working 1 Saturday or Sunday per month for field trips.
  • Compensation & Benefits: $25 per hour. This position includes 2 weeks of paid vacation, medical and dental benefits, and the possibility of an annual bonus.
  • Community Outings & Inclusion: Facilitate participation in vibrant community settings such as arcades, recreational centers, and local venues, supporting natural learning during activities.
  • Individual Connection & Autonomy: Support personal choice, build positive rapport, and allow natural processing time while respecting independence and privacy.
  • Team Collaboration & Communication: Share insights with family and team members while implementing strategies designed by communication and education specialists.
  • Experience Required: Requires 2 to 3 years working with adult AAC users with autism.
  • Key Attributes: Calm, observant, and adaptable personality with strong skills in reading the room and adjusting your approach from moment to moment based on client needs.
  • Technical & Driving Requirements: Experience or comfort using AAC devices and assistive communication tools, along with a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Driving duties are shared across team members, with this position acting as a backup driver if the senior DSP is unable to drive on a given day.
