JOB TITLE: Direct Support Professional
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Non-Exempt
PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT: Day Habilitation
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Day Habilitation Supervisor POSITION SUMMARY: Enhance quality of life for people with developmental disabilities by performing direct support services. Reads, implements and documents services according to individual service plans and procedures. Ensures safe and effective behavior management. Supports a person’s unique capacities, personality and potential and promotes self-advocacy. Facilitates personal growth and development, supports and services including supporting individuals to overcome barriers and challenges. Demonstrates and assists in meal planning and food preparation, storage and handling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education, Training & Experience:
Ability to perform all job functions in accordance with agency values
Preferred Education, Training & Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent
Driver’s license and acceptable driving record preferred

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability and willingness to obtain Certification in CPI (behavior certification)
Ability and willingness to Achieve and maintain (through agency training) proficiency in all of the following NYS DSP Core
Ability to communicate professionally with various levels of staff, People We Serve and family members

SALARY:
$17 per hour starting rate
