As a DSP, you’ll work one-on-one with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD), supporting daily routines, community involvement, and personal goals in a way that is engaging, respectful, and empowering.

What You’ll Do
- Support daily routines (cooking, cleaning, personal care with the client)

Current Clients Needing Additional Support
Client 1 (NW Portland):
- Male | 16 yrs | 97229
- Schedule: This clients DSP is transitiong to a new opportunity at the end of the year. The client has extra hours and can use the new DSP now to prepare for when the clients current DSP transitions. Schedule would eventually be: 10am - 7pm Monday - Friday. The family also attends Trail Blazer games during basketball season with the client and DSP and they usually arrive back home around 9:30 or 10pm those days.
- Likes: This client loves to attend trail blazer games with his family and DSP during basketball season. He also loves to go on walks, rollerskating and go to SkyZone. The family is flexible with DSPs taking time off, they have a yearly calendar in the house so everyone is aware of schedule changes. The family has typically taken DSPs on vacation with them and would love to find a DSP interested in that but it is not mandatory.
- Needs: It is important to the family that the DSP has a positive attitude and energy level and enjoys working with the client. He attends swimming lessons and would love if the DSP was interested in getting into the pool but not mandatory. The family goes for walks so walking up to 1-3 miles at minimum on usually flat terrain is a requirement. He needs guidance with food prep and toileting. One of the most important responsibilities when supporting this client is to be aware of signs of agitation and taking measures immediately to try to calm him down. The family has a list of things to do or check to help support him with this and the client is typically regulated within 30 minutes.
Requirements
- 18+ years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of caregiving or related experience
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
- Smartphone required
- Must be able to successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
- CPR/First Aid/AED (or willing to obtain)
