Direct Support Professional Key Responsibilities
The Direct Support Professional – Residential provides direct care, supervision, and support to individuals in a residential setting. This role focuses on helping residents develop independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) while ensuring their health, safety, and overall well-being. The position’s specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, hygiene, and toileting
- Support development of independent living skills such as cooking, housekeeping, laundry, and shopping
- Support money management skills including budgeting and making appropriate purchases
- Administer medications and complete required documentation in accordance with agency policy
- Transport and accompany residents to medical appointments, recreational activities, and community outings
- Assist with daily household operations and maintain a clean, organized living environment
- Participate in assessments, service planning, and team meetings
- Communicate resident health, safety, and behavioral concerns to supervisors
- Ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations, including Part 633 and Part 624
- Attend required training and meetings and stay up to date on communications
- Maintain reliable attendance and support staffing needs as required
- Perform any additional duties as assigned
