STAR, Inc. is seeking dependable, compassionate individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). In this role, you will support adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities as they build skills, participate in their communities, and pursue greater independence.

For more than 70 years, STAR, Inc. has been providing support and services to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families throughout the community. Based in Norwalk, CT, our nonprofit organization offers a variety of programs designed to promote inclusion, independence, and freedom of choice.
Our goal is simple: to help the people we support live fulfilling lives and reach their individual goals.
What Does a DSP Do?
Every day can look different for a Direct Support Professional.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting individuals with daily living activities and personal care needs
- Helping prepare meals and encouraging healthy routines
- Assisting with feeding when necessary
- Teaching and reinforcing practical life skills
- Supporting participation in recreational, social, and community activities
- Encouraging individuals to make choices and develop greater independence
- Providing support during appointments, outings, and other activities
- Creating a positive, respectful, and welcoming environment
Whether you're helping someone prepare a meal at home, practice an important life skill, or participate in an activity in the community, your support helps make greater independence possible.
What We're Looking For
You don't need to have years of experience to make a difference. We are looking for people who are:
- High school graduates or have an equivalent credential
- Licensed drivers
- Compassionate and respectful toward others
- Positive, dependable, and willing to work as part of a team
- Committed to recognizing the abilities and potential of every individual
Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities is welcome, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
