The Arc of the Ozarks is hiring a Direct Support Supervisor - Behavioral Supports to help lead services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. This is a good fit for someone with direct care experience who is ready to mentor others, stay hands-on, and grow into a stronger leadership role.

In this role, you help create a safe, supportive, and structured home environment where individuals can build independence, participate in their community, and receive consistent support from a well-trained team.

You will work closely with the Program Supervisor, Behavior Support Technicians, and individuals served to help each person move toward their goals while making sure daily supports, documentation, routines, and team communication stay on track.

What You’ll Do

As a Direct Support Supervisor - Behavioral Supports, you will:

  • Support individuals with daily living skills, including hygiene, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, community activities, and personal goals
  • Help implement personal plans, behavioral supports, and individualized strategies
  • Mentor and support Behavior Support Technicians in the home
  • Assist with staff training, communication, documentation, and daily follow-through
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic home environment
  • Observe and document changes in physical condition, behavior, emotional status, and progress toward goals
  • Assist with medication administration after required certification
  • Support crisis prevention and de-escalation using training provided by The Arc
  • Communicate concerns, incidents, and updates to the appropriate supervisor or team member
  • Help ensure individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion

Schedule / Location / Pay

This position is based in Joplin, MO and supports individuals in a residential setting.

Pay Starting at: $22.50-$24.84 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 7:00am to 3:00pm

Because this role supports residential services, some flexibility may be needed based on the needs of the home and individuals supported.

Training, Certification, and Support

The Arc provides paid initial and ongoing training to help you succeed in the role. Training may include:

  • CPR and First Aid
  • MANDT verbal and physical de-escalation
  • Paraclete
  • Level One Medication Aide
  • Abuse and neglect training
  • Electronic documentation
  • Other required department or home-specific training

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months of experience providing direct care, treatment, habilitation, or support in a human services setting
  • Ability to work respectfully with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Ability to communicate clearly and document accurately
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, stay organized, and ask for help when needed
  • Licensed and insured driver
  • Ability to obtain a Class E driver’s license if driving individuals served in an Arc vehicle
  • Ability to stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, autism, behavioral needs, or psychiatric/behavioral diagnoses
  • Experience mentoring, training, or leading other staff
  • Experience with medication administration, documentation, behavior supports, or residential services
