Director, B2B Marketing

About the Role
Apartment List is looking for a Director, B2B Marketing to join our GTM team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants to build and run programs personally — not just direct an agency or manage from a distance. You'll own our B2B pipeline creation strategy end-to-end: demand generation, events, campaigns, and content distribution, all tied directly to bookings and revenue outcomes.
This role is right for someone who is gritty, confident, and comfortable operating without perfect data or a fully paved path. We move fast, take calculated bets, and hold ourselves accountable to pipeline and bookings, not just activity metrics.
What You'll Do
- Own B2B pipeline generation. Take direct accountability for qualified pipeline, bookings, and related revenue outcomes.
- Build and run programs yourself. Personally architect and execute demand gen and event programs.
- Connect the full funnel. Design and optimize audience creation, segmentation, lead qualification, nurture, and Salesforce handoff, and stay engaged through to conversion.
- Activate the market. Drive campaigns, partnerships, events, and content distribution, and identify new channels — proactively, not by waiting for direction.
- Make and defend investment calls. Bring a clear point of view on what good B2B marketing looks like at Apartment List, and make smart, sometimes contrarian, bets on where to invest our budget.
- Move at speed. Test quickly, learn, and iterate rather than waiting for perfect attribution models or top-down direction.
- Create healthy accountability with Sales. Partner with Sales leadership to ensure timely lead follow-up and conversion, and hold the line when that accountability slips.
- Manage high-stakes moments. Lead and attend national event execution (NAA, AIM, etc.) and manage senior stakeholder input under pressure, with the seniority to make real-time calls.
- Manage a lean team of 3-4. Directly manage a small team across demand gen, events, and campaigns.
- Partner cross-functionally. Work closely with GTM Strategy, GTM Ops, Sales, Product, Partnerships, Brand, and Enablement to keep B2B marketing aligned with broader GTM priorities.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of B2B SAAS/tech marketing experience, including 3+ years managing a team, with a track record of staying hands-on rather than moving fully into oversight.
- Deep practitioner expertise in demand generation or events — someone who has personally built and run B2B marketing programs.
- A track record of pipeline ownership, with direct experience being measured against pipeline, bookings, or similar revenue metrics, and building dashboards and reporting that provide clear visibility into performance, trends, and outcomes.
- Full-funnel fluency — comfort operating across audience creation, segmentation, lead qualification, nurture, and handoff to Sales/Salesforce.
- A strong, defensible point of view on marketing strategy, with the confidence to make and stand behind investment decisions.
- Bias to action — a demonstrated willingness to test and move without waiting for perfect data.
- People management experience, with demonstrated success leading a lean team, prioritizing where to invest, and ensuring resources and spend are tied to the highest-impact outcomes.
- Executive presence — able to manage high-pressure event moments and navigate senior stakeholder input with confidence.
- Cross-functional operating experience in a B2B or B2B2C organization.
- Fluent with the B2B GTM stack — hands-on experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, Iterable, Looker, Gong, and LinkedIn, and comfort picking up new tools quickly.
- Preferred: experience in marketplace, SaaS, or PropTech environments. Multifamily expertise is not required, but you should be able to get up to speed on new customer segments quickly.
Why This Role
You'll be building a function from a strong foundation, with real ownership over B2B marketing strategy and execution, direct lines to GTM and Sales leadership, and the mandate to move fast and take risks. If you want to be evaluated on business outcomes rather than marketing activity, and you'd rather build programs than manage them, this is that role.
