  • Maintain the accuracy of charges, credits, payments, and refunds, and reconcile the accounts receivable sub-ledger to the general ledger
  • Administer and coordinate reconciliations, including direct loan records and drawdowns, cash payments, and institutional loans
  • Oversee daily refunding of credit balances, direct deposit recordkeeping, and resolution of deposit returns
  • Administer the SIS system to ensure accurate processing and posting of revenue and fees
  • Provide periodic reports on receipts and technical information to the college community and external funding agencies
  • Recommend and help shape college financial policies and procedures; may serve on planning and policy committees
  • Champion customer-oriented service for learners, parents, collaborators, and outside customers
  • Partner with internal and external auditors, providing access to accounting records as needed
  • Direct the implementation and recordkeeping of internal and external lending programs
  • Set organizational goals and strategic plans for the Bursar's Office, and evaluate operational effectiveness
  • Build and staff an effective team structure, including recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating staff
  • Develop and manage the department's annual budget and conduct cost/productivity analyses
  • Represent the College to internal divisions and external partners — government agencies, vendors, learners, and families
  • Plan and implement strategies for generating resources and revenue for the organization

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related business field
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting or bursar operations, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Working knowledge of federal and state financial regulations and university financial policies and procedures
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
  • Solid grounding in cashiering, cash management, and accounts receivable principles and practices

  • Experience supervising and developing staff, including organizing and prioritizing team workloads
  • Excellent interpersonal and community-relations skills, with the ability to work effectively across a diverse community
