Director, Business Development - Emergency Response Services

NewBe an early applicant

The Director, Business Development – Emergency Response (ER) is a high-impact role designed to convert
industry influence and market intelligence into tangible, scalable revenue. Reporting to the National Senior
Director of Emergency Response, this role acts as the face of the business across major industry
associations, while simultaneously serving as an aggressive growth engine for new geographic and service
markets.

This position bridges the gap between high-level industry diplomacy and active business development. The ideal
candidate brings an unmatchable network and deep market insight - knowing who's who, where opportunities
are emerging, and how to open doors - backed by the drive to execute. You will be directly responsible for
leveraging industry seats (CERCA, TRANSCAER, etc.) to gather intelligence, identifying "white-space" markets
where GESI’s ER services are underrepresented, leading expansion initiatives into the U.S. market, and closing
high-value commercial accounts.

Key Accountabilities

Market Expansion & Strategic Growth Execution

• Geographic & Service Expansion: Identify regional "white spaces" and organic growth opportunities
where ER capabilities are currently missing or underrepresented, building actionable go-to-market
strategies to establish a footprint.
• Cross-Border / U.S. Market Growth: Partner with executive leadership to strategy-map and execute
commercial expansion into the U.S. market, building new client channels and securing cross-border
service agreements.
• Tangible BD Execution: Translate initial conversations, industry intel, and warm network leads into
structured pipeline opportunities, high-stakes proposals, and signed Master Service Agreements
(MSAs).
• Commercial Synergy: Work alongside Operations and Functional Leadership to identify commercial
synergies from M&A activities and cross-sell ER capabilities across untapped customer bases.

Industry Associations & Market Intelligence

• Committee Leadership: Serve as the active, visible lead representing the company on critical
committees and associations (e.g., CERCA, TRANSCAER, RDC, CHLOREP).
• Actionable Intelligence: Leverage top-tier industry connections to gather real-time market intel,
competitor movements, regulatory shifts, and early-stage project opportunities—converting informal
knowledge into actionable business strategies.
• Brand Ambassadorship: Position the organization as the premier, go-to national ER partner across
public, regulatory, and industrial emergency management coalitions.

Enterprise Account Management & Operational Alignment
• High-Value Account Acquisition: Target, capture, and maintain key relationships with major enterprise
accounts, industrial multi-site operators, rail/transportation giants, and government bodies.
• Operational Integration: Collaborate directly with Area Directors, Regional Managers, and local BU
leaders to ensure newly won national accounts align with regional operational capacity and service
execution standards.
• Pipeline & Revenue Reporting: Track, report, and maintain accountability for growth targets, market
expansion milestones, and active sales pipelines.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Experience: 12+ years of progressive leadership in emergency response, environmental services, or
high-hazard industrial sectors, with a proven track record in national business development.
• Established Network: A deeply entrenched, highly respected network across the ER ecosystem,
regulatory bodies, and major industry associations (CERCA, TRANSCAER, RDC, CHLOREP, etc.).
• Expansion Track Record: Demonstrated success driving organic market expansion, opening new
geographic territories, and executing cross-border / U.S. growth strategies.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong hunter mentality paired with sophisticated C-suite relationship
management; proven ability to negotiate and close multi-million-dollar MSAs.
• Matrix & Field Savvy: Excellent communication and influencing skills, capable of bridging the gap
between national commercial strategy and field-level operational capabilities.
• Travel: Willingness to travel extensively across Canada and the U.S. to attend association forums,
evaluate expansion markets, and meet with key clients.
